Fed: Minchin pays tribute to Vanstone

CANBERRA, April 26 AAP - Departing senator Amanda Vanstone made a significant contribution
to the Howard government in several difficult portfolios, government Senate leader Nick
Minchin said today.

Senator Minchin said his colleague, who today announced her resignation from politics,
was a valuable member of the coalition Senate ministerial team across a range of portfolios.

"Senator Vanstone was responsible for several difficult portfolios during her ministerial
career and was renowned for her robust political advocacy," he said in a statement.

"She made a significant contribution to the Howard government during her time as a
minister and I wish her well in her future endeavours.

"As a fellow South Australian, I pay tribute to Senator Vanstone's spirited advancement
of SA interests."
